Hey people! Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite.
Welcome to New York City's Upper East Side, where my friends and I live and go to school and play and sleep - sometimes with each other. We're smart, we've inherited classic good looks, we wear fantastic clothes, and we know how to party.
It's a luxe life, but someone's got to live it.
Most of us go to an elite academy in the heart of Manhattan, which goes by the name of St. Jude's Academy. In other terms, it's a private school where your lives are anything but private. Thanks to yours truly, I make sure that everyone knows what goes on behind closed doors. I guarantee you your secret won't stay a secret for long. Wild parties, alcohol, drama, sex, and the freedom to do anything may be a fun ride, but just wait until you're at the bottom.
But then, the older group of us goes to a college down the road, St. Hollinsworth. The social scenes of these two schools always mingle, and though there may be an age difference, don't fret, drama comes in One Size Fits All. Even with a hangover, Fifth Avenue always looks so beautiful in the morning with the sunlight glimmering on the sexy college boys. Yummy.
Here's a run-down of all the cliques found at St. Jude's Academy.the CLIQUES:
THE ELITE EIGHT
With their laser-whitened smiles and glossy hair, the Elite are exactly what their name implies. They are the uncontested rulers of the cliques at St. Jude's.These four girls and four guys rule the school with an iron fist. They are the see-and-be-seens, the top of the social food chain, the group you don't join without express invitation. They throw all the hottest parties and events and declare who is hot and who is so not. Be careful what you say to an Elite - you could very well be committing social suicide.
WANNABEES
These girls and guys are on the next rung down on the social ladder. They're notorious for being major gossips and they'd love to move up to the Elite. The Elite happen to like the fact that a whole Clique is devoted to trying to be like them. But how long till a Wannabee takes an Elite spot? Careful, it could happen.
PREPS
This group is very outgoing and they tend to have large circles of friends. They're always well-dressed and like to gossip. They love to party and are almost always in a good mood. Surprisingly, some of the Preps tend to have many insecurities that they hide quite nicely.
JOCK(ETTE)S
These guys and girls are popular in their own right, just not as popular as the Elite, Wannabees, or Preps. They've got those hot, athletic bodies that everyone swoons over.
ARTISTS
These students are artistically gifted, whether it be with a paintbrush, a camera, or a pencil. They are creative, insightful thinkers who tend to have an open mind about new things. One day a few of them will be famous for the things they create, and everyone will know their names when they go big. Some will be fashion designers, some photographers, but they all bond over the fact that they love art.
FRIENDS
These are some of the friendliest kids around. They're drifters and have huge circles of friends. They're pretty well-liked by the general public and they don't like to stir up drama. Can they smile their way up the roster?
REBELS
These wild kids are the polar opposites and rivals of the Elite. They have their own unique style and don't care about what others think of them. They tend to be boisterous hellraisers who enjoy battling with the Elite. Most of the Rebels are opposed to the idea of cliques and would like to put the Elites in their place.
MUSICIANS
These dudes and chicks know how to rock out! They love music, and one day, many of them will be famous composers, singers, and rock stars. They can have big attitudes sometimes. The Musicians are like a mix of the Artists and Rebels cliques, sharing qualities from these two groups.
SMARTIES
The school-obsessed kids who like to make sure others know that they are intellectually superior. They are know-it-alls who jump at the chance to give the encyclopedia description of something. They're most often found in the library doing homework, reading, or at the computers playing their geeky video games. Don't pick on them too much though - they're bound to be future leaders of the world someday, so you don't want to be first on their list of people to execute, do you?
OVER-DOSERS
These teens tend to party too hard sometimes. Some of them smoke, some of them do drugs, and most of them drink. They can always provide a crazy fun time, and rarely care what other people think of their wild habits.
DRAMA GEEKS
If you love to act, this group is for you. The one place where drama is always allowed and accepted, even applauded.
PUNKS
These are everything you could imagine. They dress worse than the Rebels, and know how to party harder than you'd think, and generally have a good time. These are the people you don’t want to get involved with. After all, they're almost at the bottom. Good luck on working your way up.
HIPPIES
Name a cause, chances are the Hippies support it. They organize all fundraisers at the school. They often have a table set up filled with brochures and petitions for whatever cause they're currently supporting. "Save the Rainforest!", "Buy a cookie, it benefits literacy!", "AIDS Walk", "WORD PEACE!"...get the picture?
Careful what you do, because I'll be watching.
