Xavier sat down in the soft grass of the courtyard. He was really tired, he hadn't slept well the night before and he needed to catch up, but he'd just lay down for now. He stretched out in the warm sun and sighed contently. He just hoped he wouldn't randomly turn into a horse or something. He sighed. He really wished he could control all of that random tranforming, but in time he'd learn how. The sun felt good on his arms. He looked around and didn't see anyone. He slipped off his dark t-shirt and used it as a pillow.
A yawn came from his chest and he stretched again. It felt good just lying there not doing anything. He put his hands behind his head and soaked up the sun. He started thinking about things. The past, the present and what he would do if he could learn how to control this ability. He started to doze off a little bit and fought sleep as much as he could, but he didn't know how much longer he could fight it. He wished someone would come along and talk to him or something, he was starting to get a little bored.

Bethany left her dormitory behind, after having got rather bored and lonely. With the school lacking students, she shared the dorm with nobody, which had both its ups and downs. She didn't have to worry about tidying up or keeping anyone awake, but then she didn't have anyone to talk to. Walking down towards the grounds of the school, she slung her bag over her shoulder and made her way to the shaded courtyard.
The sun was warm, in fact, it was hot. Very hot. Beth would soon become uncomfortable in the heat, but she wasn't about to sit around inside all day. She allowed a thin layer of ice to cover her skin, keeping her cool. Well, until it will melt anyway. As it's effect began to wear off, she quickly removed it so that she didn't become soaked.
Upon reaching the courtyard, she walked into it before stopping suddenly. A boy was laying on the floor without his shirt, and well, Bethany didn't think he looked all that bad. She didn't recognise him as anyone she knew, so she stepped into the shaded area and sat down on the floor nearby, sliding her bag from her shoulder and laying it next to her.

Xavier was floating between sleep and awake. He was tired of fighting the sleep and was just about to let himself slip off into sleep when he heard something. He stretched one more time before sitting up and looking around. He saw a girl sitting with a bag next to her. He rubbed the back of his head, still half asleep when he realized he was shirtless, and wellshe may not want to see that much of him. He slipped his shirt back on not really liking how it made him hotter, but he couldn't always run around shirtless. He looked at the girl and smiled Kind of warm out today isn't it? He hadn't ever seen this girl before. Of course he hadn't really seen anyone around here. This place was kind of empty right now.
He began to get slightly nervous. What if this girl could actually control her ability, whatever it might be? He couldn't and what if he was just sitting there, talking to her and then bam, spider monkey. He wasn't too worried, but it kind of bothered him that he may just spontaneously turn beast, but she would hopefully understand, he was here to learn of course. I'm Xavier by the way. He wasn't normally much for conversation, but for some reason he wanted to talk today and he wasn't going to question it.

Beth smiled pleasantly at Xavier, secretly disappointed that he had reapplied his shirt. She nodded, before looking away from him. She took the piece of chewing gum out of her hand, froze it, and threw it at one of the trees. It shattered, and would very soon melt away into water and soak into the grass. Before attending Bennet's Academy, she would sometimes go and freeze entire rubbish dumps.
She put her other hand out to Xavier, her skin very cold despite the heat. "Bethany." She said in return. "Kings." She added, hoping he knew that she meant she was in Kings, not that her name was Bethany Kings. She never did tend to make much sense, people often just nodded and said yes and no where it was appropriate.

Xavier watched as she froze her gum and threw it at a tree. It shattered and disappeared. He had his answer. She apparently had control of her ability at least as far as he could see. He was slightly envious, but he wasn't angry or anything. Just wanted to have at least that much control. He smiled back at her. She was an attractive girl now that he had a clear, non drowsy look at her. He was glad he had decided to come down here today. He needed to meet new people and he was having fun.
He took her extended hand and to his surprise it was icy. He shook it gently. Nice to meet you, Bethany. She then told him what house she was in and he smiled. Girton for me. He wondered how long she'd been here, he knew he hadn't been here long. He sat indian style and decided he would ask her how long she'd been here, he wanted to make some sort of conversation. So, how long have you been here, Bethany? He looked over at her casually as he spoke, light smile on his face.

Beth could notice a slight expression of envy upon his face. She wasn't angry about it, in fact more flattered. She'd never thought majorly of her gift, though she'd seen some people that had rather rubbish gifts, like being able to turn out sewing machines by snapping their fingers, and make books grow twice as large.
"I can stand Girton. It's Pembroke i'm not too fond of." Bethany said, before smiling again. "And i've not been here that long. I came about a year and half ago, what about you?" She replied, playing with the grass in front of her, watching as it turned a very pale blue before freezing.

Xavier wasn't ashamed of his gift. He thought it was kinda cool actually. He just wish he knew how to control it like she apparently did. Her ability looked rather interesting to him as well. Sometimes he wished he could control some sort of element, but he was satisfied with his gift anyway.
He chuckled slightly. What's so bad about them? He asked smiling. I haven't been here over year yet even. He stretched his legs out and then brought his knees to his chest and rested his arms on them. He looked at the grass she was playing with and watched it turn a cool frozen blue color. He then wiped his forehead on his sleeve, he wasn't really sweating, just itching. He looked back at her smiling lightly. So what do you do for fun around here?

"I dunno really. I guess it's kinda prejudiced to say, but they're a bit offish if you know what I mean. Of course not all of them are like that though." She said, trying to say what she meant, but unable to find the right words. She smiled at Xavier when he told her that he hadn't been here for a year yet.
"For fun?" She replied, before thinking. "Well, if i'm really bored, then sometimes I go to the library, but it's normally stuff like extra P.E. stuff." She continued, stretching her legs out before her, and then rolling over onto her side, propping her head up against her arm. "May I ask the same from you?"

Xavier smiled. He had to agree though, those people didn't sit just right with him either. I know what you mean, I'm not just crazy about them either. Xavier felt a dull pain in his back and sat up, a loud set of pops came from his spine. He sighed contentedly and flopped down on the ground. He looked over at Bethany, a light grin on his lips.
Xavier nodded at her question and then listened to her. She liked to read or play some sort of sport. Those both sound fun. I like reading, most people don't believe me, but I really do. He chuckled slightly. What P.E. activity do you like most? She asked him what he liked to do, he made a hmm sound and then answered. I like to read, sketch, play soccer, and play guitar. Oh, and sometimes I lie around shirtless and sleep. He smirked at her slightly hoping she didn't think he was an idiot.

"Glad i'm not the only one." She said, rather thankful of the fact that he hadn't fired off on how she just knew the wrong people. There weren't all that many people at the school, so every friend made was a bonus. Bethany cringed slightly upon hearing the bones popping in his back, though she soon recovered.
"Rounders is quite good, but tennis and netball are alright I guess." She replied, before posing him the same question in return. He seemed like a nice enough guy, and he was one that she would like to get to know. When she heard that he played guitar, she smiled. She'd never been one to play the guitar herself, but she liked to watch. "Cool, I play piano. I attempted flute once but, nah." She replied, before listening as his list continued. She held back a grin when mentioned sleeping shirtless; something she had been fortunate enough to witness.

He chuckled slightly. I'm willing to bet we're not the only two. He knew they couldn't be. She asked him what his favorite sport was, instantly he thought of one sport and one only... Soccer. Xavier loved soccer, that was his all time favorite sport. Running until your lungs felt as though they may explode, taking out all your frustration on a ball, and beating up the other team, so long as you didn't get caught. It was a lot tougher than most guys wanted to admit, but you throw them out there in it and they complain that it's too hard for them. Xavier loved it, it was one thing he actually didn't mind pushing himself to the limits for. He wanted to play again, for a pro team or any team really, but he couldn't for now. It'd be hard to explain why your center foreward just went poof and turned into a panther or something. He knew one day he'd gain control over this ability and the next thing he would do is hit the fields with all he had. He'd attempted tennis, but he still wasn't great at it. He did like it though. Soccer hands down is my favorite, but tennis is fun. I just haven't got the hang of it yet.
He smiled. She was a really sweet girl, she was the only person he'd met that hadn't been rude to him and he liked that. He was glad he'd found a friend, he hoped at least and he hoped she would let him get to know her more. So she played the piano? Xavier's mom tried to get him to play that, but he quit it for guitar. My mom used to try and teach me piano, it's a pretty cool instrument. What happened with the flute? He looked over at her. He leaned up and propped up on his elbows so he could see better.

"I dunno, i've had my fair share of hatemail for saying that." She said, referring mostly to her large collection of e-mails, myspace comments, texts, and of course, the good old verbal. She'd tried to forget everything that had been said and written, though every now and then she remembered them. She smiled when Xavier mentioned that soccer was his favourite, and that tennis was good but he wasn't all that good at it. The same could be said for Beth; she loved it, but she damn right crap at it.
When he asked her about the flute story, she chuckled lightly before telling him. "It was that flute that told me I had an ability. It was a really nice flute, my parents had spent a lot of money on it. I was in the middle of a lesson with my private tutor, and I got pissed off with it. I couldn't get it to play the right note, and then..." She said, grinning to herself and staring down at the ground. "...and then it froze completely. I threw it against the wall and it shattered. My parents refused to buy me a new one, nor believe me that it had frozen solid in my hand.

Xavier hated hate mail, everyone did though. It was stupid and pointless. Ah, don't worry about them. Your entitled to your opinion and they're just being childish because they don't agree with you. He hoped she didn't think he was being an ass. He was really just just trying to help. He smiled at her when she smiled. She had a pretty smile.
Xavier listened to her story. She'd gotten pissed and frozen the flute and destroyed it. Awesome. He was smiling and when she finished, he chuckled slightly. That's probably the best way to destroy an instrument that I have ever heard. He found himself wishing he had a slightly more useful gift. His could be useful in fights, but other than that there wasn't much you could use it for. He smiled at her. So I take it your really good with your ice, huh? He thought it was really interesting. He didn't know much about it, but from what he'd seen and heard, it seemed to be really interesting and useful. His just seemed to get in the way, but he didn't know. He could change when he wanted, but sometimes he just changed it was weird.

Beth smiled when Xavier told her that the hate-mailers were just childish; something she knew anyway, but was glad he had said. When Bethany made enemies, it took no effort at all; and now it seemed the same could be said for making friends. Xavier was very easy to get along with.
"Yeah, it was kinda cool. Though I didn't think about it like that 'till I came here; I was a bit freaked beforehand." She said, smiling yet again. "I've got a good grasp of it, but Vic... Mrs. Bennet, thinks that I can do a whole lot more with it." She replied. She'd been trying for a while to make things out of ice; she'd been amazed at how one of the people in X-Men had managed to produce a rose.

Xavier laughed lightly. I bet I'd have freaked too. He listened as she talked. He smiled. I'm sure you'll have it mastered in no time. I wish the same could be said for me. He chuckled. He had a long, long way to go before he could control his completely. He could change when he wanted, but he didn't know how to not change when he didn't want to. It kind of inhibited him from having a normal life back home. Here it was easier, but it was still kinda of agitating for Xavier. No one had ever been able to help until now. Xavier was glad he'd wandered down here and fallen asleep because he'd met Bethany. He was glad, she was very nice and he got along with her pretty easily and he hoped he would get to know her bettter.
